About Us

Mandate of the School

MakSVAR is one of the two schools at the present College of Veterinary Medicine Animal Resources and Biosecurity (CoVAB). CoVAB evolved from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine established in 1972. MakSVAR’s core mandates are teaching, research and community service in the disciplines of Veterinary science, Livestock Production and Wildlife resources.

The school is home to four undergraduate programs (Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine, Bachelor of Animal Production Technology and management, Bachelor of Wildlife Health and Management and Bachelor of Livestock industry and Business) and three graduate programs (Masters of Veterinary Medicine, Masters of Livestock Production and Development and MSc in wildlife Health and Management).

We offer doctoral degree program by research across the respective disciplines. Overtime the student population has grown to the present annual enrolment of 520 undergraduate and 50 graduate students. We hope to expand the graduate student’s enrolment in line with the university mission of becoming a graduate programs lead university.
